The Greenhouse Gas Protocol, the world’s most widely used greenhouse gas accounting standards, defines three scopes along which emissions can be classified.
Scope 1 are the direct emissions from company owned facilities and controlled resources.
Scope 2 includes indirect emissions, generated offsite, from consumption of purchased energy from a utility provider.
Scope 3 are all indirect emissions along the supply chain.
Scope 1 are the direct emissions from company owned facilities and controlled resources aka as a direct result of activities at a firm level within our four walls. In our case, for now it includes our fuel powered vehicle fleet and our buildings heated with natural gas.
Scope 2 includes indirect emissions, generated offsite, from consumption of purchased energy from a utility provider. For LIGANOVA, these emissions come from our district heating & purchased electricity.
Scope 3 are all indirect emissions along the supply chain, both upstream and downstream. This included our business travel and waste generated in our operations.
